How to Prepare for Your First Track Day

Preparation starts with your car: check brakes, tyres, fluid levels, and ensure nothing is loose in the cabin. Bring your driving licence, comfortable flat-soled shoes, and a helmet (most venues provide loaners). Arrive early for the safety briefing. Arrive-and-drive packages with a provided car cost more than bring-your-own-car sessions.

Most track days allow you to bring your own road-legal car, provided it passes a basic technical inspection (brakes, tyres, fluid leaks, rollover safety). Some events are restricted to specific car types or require minimum safety equipment. Check the specific event requirements before booking.

No. The vast majority of track days only require a valid road driving licence. Some advanced or race-format events may require an ARDS licence (UK), a national competition licence, or documented track experience. Beginner-friendly events never require a racing licence.
