About the venue
Sports cars and Swiss motorsport heritage in Romanshorn
autobau erlebniswelt is a car museum in Romanshorn, near Lake Constance in eastern Switzerland. Housed in the restored buildings of a former fuel depot, it brings together around 120 classic, sports and racing cars, drawn mainly from the collection of Swiss entrepreneur and racing driver Fredy Lienhard. The historic industrial architecture gives the exhibition a distinctive setting.
The displays connect road-car design with professional motorsport. The Racing Hall features cars from disciplines including rallying, endurance racing and IndyCar, while the converted steel tank provides a striking space for Formula 1 cars and racing prototypes. The Clay Regazzoni Honor Room adds a personal perspective through vehicles, trophies and memorabilia associated with the Swiss driver.
Visitors can explore during public opening hours or arrange a guided tour for a closer look at the cars and their stories. Private groups can also combine the collection with event spaces and activities, including separately arranged race-taxi rides and racing simulators.
