Stellantis has announced a €38 million investment in its Biella plant in Northern Italy to manufacture components for electric motors. This initiative supports the production of future electric vehicles (EVs) built on Stellantis’ STLA Small platform, underpinning the company’s next generation of compact EVs.
The Biella facility will produce steel components for electric drive modules currently manufactured in other European plants. Production is expected to commence by the end of 2027, with an initial annual output exceeding 400,000 units. Depending on market demand, Stellantis may increase production by an additional 200,000 units.
This investment is part of Stellantis’ broader strategy to invest €2 billion into Italian manufacturing throughout 2025, reinforcing its commitment to electrification and sustainable mobility. The Biella plant currently produces transmissions for petrol-engine vehicles, having manufactured over 200,000 units last year and employing approximately 350 people. The new production line will complement existing operations, supporting the transition to electric mobility.
